Volunteers Needed to Help Grieving Children

MargaretAnn’s Place, Wisconsin’s Center of Hope for Grieving Children, is seeking compassionate volunteers to serve as Facilitators and Helping Hands in our Peer Support/Education Groups.

Volunteer Facilitators are needed to work with our Children’s Group (ages 3-18). In these groups, children, who have experienced the death of someone close to them, engage in creative activities focusing on expressing their feelings, learning healthy coping skills, sharing memories and reinvesting in life. Volunteer Facilitators are also needed in our Parent/Caregiver Group. In both groups, volunteers follow a curriculum, provide a safe environment, and facilitate discussions. We have opportunities available for those wishing to work as Helping Hands in various capacities as well.

We ask volunteers to make a one year commitment and successfully complete our training program which includes three class sessions, a group night observation, a background check, and an interview.

Peer Support/Education groups are currently being held in Racine (3rdThursday) and Milwaukee (1st & 3rd Monday). The City of Kenosha group should be meeting regularly by the first of the year. Volunteers may participate in more than one location.

The first training class will be held at Wesley United Methodist Church, 4600 60th Street, Kenosha on Tuesday, October 25 from 6:00-8:30 p.m. The dates of subsequent meetings will be set following the first class.

Please visit our website at www.margaretannsplace.org and complete the online volunteer application, due October 19th. If you have any questions, please contact Loralei Marr 262-909-4485 or This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
